For this project we were asked to clad the main concrete stairs with French Oak treads, as well as create a landing at the top of the staircase with skirting along two edges, and an additional four French Oak box steps to clad the small metal staircase in the entrance to create a floating stair effect.
In addition, at the top of the stairs attached to the side of the concrete slab, we had to install a matching balustrade in an upright picket style, as well as matching handrails for both staircases.
Before installation, all of the wood was machined from rough stock, then laminated and joined in the workshop.
The main staircase treads were fixed with polyurethane floor adhesive, while the floating steps were anchored from beneath with tek screws.
To achieve the most natural look possible, all of the wood was sealed with clear Osmo PolyX Matte.
